The cost of Workplace will depend on the number of billable users who are active in your Workplace community. Find out more about how we define an active user, paying your first bill and payment protection.

Billable users
A billable user is someone who has an active Workplace account for an entire calendar month, from the 1st of the month to the last day of the month.
Any accounts that are created or ended within that calendar month are not billable.
Note: Any account that is created after the 1st will not be billed until they have been active for an entire calendar month.

On Workplace Advanced and Workplace Enterprise, you pay for the number of people who use Workplace each month. A billable person is someone who's been invited to sign up for a Workplace account.
Workplace administrators can control how many people are invited to claim Workplace accounts and therefore can control and predict how much Workplace will cost each month.

No, you won 't be charged. If you invite someone to a multi-company group (MCG) whose company isn't yet using Workplace, they'll be set up with a free Workplace Essential account. If they're already using Workplace Essential, there will be no change to their status. In either case, there will be no applicable charges.
If the person you invite to an MCG works at a company that's already using Workplace Advanced, you similarly won't be charged.

Workplace customers have a 30-day free trial period. Once that free trial period ends, the billing cycle begins on the first day of the next calendar month. At the end of that month, the bill will be generated based the number of active users for that month. The days that fall between the end of the free trial period and the first day of the next month won't be charged.
For example, if your free trial period ends on October 18, October 19 through October 31 won't be charged. The billing cycle starts on November 1.

Billing calculations will usually be less than what you see in the Reporting section of your Admin Panel. A monthly active user for billing purposes is someone who had a Workplace account on the first day of the month and who logged in to visit their Workplace community, the Admin Panel or Work Chat during that month. (A push notification you get on mobile or by email doesn't count.)
